Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to tell LabelWorx which stores to send my releases to?
You do not need to tell LabelWorx where to send your releases. We will automatically attempt to deliver your releases to our entire DSP network, unless you have previously agreed with LabelWorx that certain stores should be excluded.
How can I get my label onto Beatport?
By default, LabelWorx will submit all eligible dance labels to Beatport for consideration. This happens once your label has been approved for distribution by LabelWorx.
If your label has previously been rejected by Beatport, you may be eligible to reapply. Please contact our support team to discuss this.
How can I get LabelWorx to distribute to a store that I was previously dealing with directly?
You can request for a store that was previously excluded from your LabelWorx agreement to be included. LabelWorx can then take over distribution and accounting for that store on your behalf.
To request this, please contact our support team. We can then contact the store and request the transfer.
I wish to distribute my music to a store directly, is this possible?
Once your agreement with LabelWorx has been signed and the stores we are distributing to have been agreed, those stores will remain with LabelWorx for the duration of your agreement.
As set out in the terms of your agreement, it is not possible to remove individual stores from your distribution agreement during this period.
Why does my label not appear on a store?
There are two common reasons why your label may not appear on a particular store:
- The store has decided not to stock your label's releases.
- Your label is new and the store has not yet reviewed the application we submitted on your behalf.
You can check the status of your label with each store in the LabelWorx system:
- In the top menu, go to: Labels ➜ Record Labels
- Click Stores next to your record label.
You can then view the DSPs that LabelWorx is connected to and the current status of your label with each one.
How do I delete a label from my label page?
If you would like to remove a label from your label page, please contact our support team.
If the label has releases attached to it or has generated sales from DSPs, it may not be possible to delete it.
How do I get a replacement distribution contract?
Your distribution agreement was sent to you when you first signed up with LabelWorx. If you no longer have a copy or the information on your agreement is incorrect, please contact our support team to request a replacement.
Why has my label logo been rejected?
LabelWorx requires a clean, professional-quality label logo with minimum dimensions of 1400x1400 pixels.
Your logo may be rejected if the image is poor quality, blurred or does not meet our overall quality requirements. Your label logo represents your record label and may also be reviewed by DSPs when considering whether to accept your label.
Make sure your original logo has been created at 1400x1400 pixels or higher. Enlarging a smaller image to meet these dimensions can result in a blurred or pixelated image and may result in the logo being rejected.
How long does it take for LabelWorx to review my label after I request approval?
We aim to review your label within one week of you requesting approval. Occasionally, this may take longer depending on workload, staff availability and other factors.
How long does it take for the stores to review my label after LabelWorx has approved it for distribution?
As soon as LabelWorx approves your label for distribution, we will begin the store setup process.
For stores that have a label vetting or setup process, we will submit your label for review as soon as possible. Most stores will review a label within 2-3 days of receiving the application, but this can vary depending on their workload and other factors. We recommend allowing at least 3 weeks for the full store approval process.
Many DSPs, including Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music, do not require this type of label setup process and will therefore appear as approved immediately.
Why have stores rejected my label?
Stores can reject or remove labels for a variety of reasons. Some of the most common reasons include:
Genre Not Suitable - Your label's genre may not fit the customer base or music profile of that particular store.
Downsizing - Stores may periodically reduce their catalogue and remove labels that they do not feel are performing strongly enough.
Poor Sales - A store may remove a label if its releases are consistently generating low sales.
Not Established Enough - New labels may be rejected if they have not yet built up a sufficient track record of releases, sales or audience engagement.
To find out more about why your label was rejected by a particular store, please contact our support team.
Why was my label not approved for distribution by LabelWorx?
If your label was not approved for distribution by LabelWorx, the reasons will be explained in the email you received from our team. If you are unsure what you need to do next, please contact our support team.
This does not necessarily mean that your label has been permanently rejected. We may ask you to make improvements to certain areas before approval can be granted.
These changes are intended to strengthen your label profile and online presence, helping to give your label the best chance of being accepted by DSPs that have stricter vetting requirements.
Why do LabelWorx request that my website and social networking pages are updated?
Having an active and professional online presence is important when promoting your releases. Some stores review a label's website and social media activity when deciding whether to accept it, particularly stores with stricter label vetting processes such as Beatport.
Your website and social media profiles should be kept up-to-date and clearly represent your label. Where possible, include information such as your label profile, upcoming releases, release schedule, artist activity and DJ support.
You should also have somewhere online where stores can listen to your music, including forthcoming and previous releases. Platforms such as SoundCloud, YouTube and Instagram can help provide stores with an understanding of your label and its music.
We recommend maintaining an active presence across relevant platforms such as SoundCloud, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and X. If your label does not currently have an online presence, we recommend setting this up before requesting approval with LabelWorx.
