A 'mismerged artist' refers to multiple individual artists who have been incorrectly listed together under a single name. If you joined LabelWorx before December 2024, imported releases from a spreadsheet, or switched from another distributor, you may have some in your roster or under Artists Unmatched.
IMPORTANT: Do not split artist names that have intentionally included an ampersand (&), as this signifies a collaborative duo or group using a single shared alias (e.g. 'Chase & Status'). These should be treated as one entity and kept as a single profile in our artist database.
Identifying and splitting mismerged artists ensures each individual artist is properly matched to a profile in our artist database, resulting in accurate DSP profile mapping and more reliable Daily Sales Reporting.
Splitting Unmatched Mismerged Artists
If you go to Artists ➜ Artists Unmatched in the top menu and notice you have mismerged artists who haven't been matched to a profile in our artist database yet, follow this process before matching them:
- From the 'Artists Unmatched' page, you will be presented with a list of all artists who are unable to be automatically matched. If they are a mismerged artist, click Split Artist on the right-hand side.
- In the 'Split Unmatched Artist' module, determine the number of individual artists represented in the mismerged artist, then enter each artist's name separately, and click the 'Split Artist' button.
- Once the mismerged artist has been split, you will now see each of the individual artists on the 'Artists Unmatched' page and should match them to the correct profile in our artist database.
Splitting Mismerged Artists in your Roster
If you have a mismerged artist that is listed in your roster and appearing on a distributed release, go to Artists ➜ Artist Roster in the top menu and select the mismerged artist that you want to split:
- On the mismerged artist's profile, click the 'Split' button in the icon menu.
- In the 'Split Artist' module, determine the number of individual artists represented in the mismerged artist, then enter each artist's name separately, and click the 'Split Artist' button.
- Once the mismerged artist has been split, go to the 'Artists Unmatched' page (Artists ➜ Artists Unmatched) and match each individual artist to the correct profile in our artist database.
