After you have created a track, you'll then need to complete the General Information, Track Credits, Lyrics, and Audio Files sections for each track. To get started, fill out the General Information section.
Track Artist
Click into this field to add artists to the track (if you selected a Display Artist when creating this track, this field can still be amended). If relevant, you can also add remixers and/or contributors to the track.
- Artists: list any artists performing on this track exactly as you want them to appear on music services. Add each artist separately to ensure they can be found individually on music platforms.
- Remixers: if this track is a remix by someone different to the original track artist listed above, add them here. Please note that releases can display differently on a remixer's music platform profile.
-
Contributors: these are individuals whose name is not credited or linked as a track artist, but had a supporting role. These credits will only be displayed on the platforms that support this data.
Title
Enter the name of the track in this field. Please do not include any artist names, mix information, side-by-side translations, or any other text in this field.
Mix Name
Enter the name given to the specific mix of this track. If only one version of the track exists, 'Original Mix' is recommended (entering exactly 'Original Mix' will result in the Mix Name being hidden on streaming platforms). If the track is a remix, their artist alias must be included here (e.g. 'Matt Abbott Remix').
Genre
Use the dropdown menu to select the most relevant genre for this track. Please note that while the genre you pick is always taken into consideration, some stores have their own genre guidelines and genre managers who may choose to manually reclassify the track with a different genre.
EAN / UPC
If you have an EAN or UPC for this release, then you can supply it here. If not, leave this field blank and our system will automatically generate an EAN for the release after the release is set to 'Final Release'.
ISRC
If you have an ISRC for this track, then you can supply it here. If not, leave this field blank and our system will automatically generate an ISRC for this track after the release is set to 'Final Release'.
Custom Sample Start
A few DSPs (such as TikTok and iTunes) will allow you to provide custom start times for your samples on their platform. To do this, check this box and enter the time in seconds (e.g. 150 = 02:30). If you do not provide a custom sample start, we will automatically set the sample to begin at 33% through the track.
Other Settings
There are a few other settings that can be controlled here:
- Album Only: if this track is not to be sold separately, then check this box. Please note that only 10% of the tracks on a release can be listed as 'album only' and some stores do not support 'album only', so these tracks will not be distributed to them.
- Continuous Mix: if this track is a continuous mix that contains all of the tracks on the release, check this box. If you are using RoyaltyWorx, any royalties generated on this track will then be paid pro rata across all other tracks on the release.
- Third Party: if you have licensed this track from another party, check this box.
-
Streaming Permitted: if this track can be streamed, keep this box checked (its default setting).
You'll then need to complete the Track Credits section by entering details for the Writers, Producers, and Publishers involved. Be sure to also include the copyright information (C Line / P Line) for the track.
Writers
You must specify at least one Writer for this track, using their full legal name (pseudonyms, nicknames or aliases are only permitted if they are registered with a PRO). After you have entered their full legal name, use the dropdown menu to select their specific writing role (e.g. 'Songwriter', 'Lyricist', 'Arranger').
To save you time, when adding artists to this track, if their Legal Name is already in our artist database, you will also have the option to automatically add it to this field, along with their role as a writer.
Producers
You must specify at least one Producer for this track (pseudonyms or aliases are allowed, but using their full legal name is recommended). After you have entered a name, use the dropdown menu to select their specific production role (e.g. 'Producer', 'Mixing Engineer', 'Mastering Engineer').

C Line / P Line
Complete the 'C Line' (Copyright Line) and 'P Line' (Phonogram Line) credits to identify the rightsholder (this is typically the label name, but may vary), as well as the year associated with the track's copyrights.
You’ll then need to complete the Lyrics section by marking whether the track has explicit content, selecting the language of performance, and optionally uploading a TTML file for time-synced lyrics.
Explicit Lyrics
Use the dropdown menu to indicate whether these lyrics are Not Explicit, Explicit, or a Clean Version (if you select Clean Version, an Explicit version of the track must also exist).
Language of Performance
Use the dropdown menu to select the language that the lyrics in the track are performed in. If this track contains no lyrics, you should select the language used in the Track Title.
Upload TTML File (optional)
If your track has lyrics, uploading a time-synced TTML (Timed Text Markup Language) file can help enhance engagement by allowing listeners to follow the lyrics in sync with the music on select platforms.
Finally, complete the Audio Files section by uploading a mastered WAV file for this track. If you plan on using PromoWorx to promote the release, you can also generate an MP3 for your recipients to download.
320K MP3 (optional)
If you create a PromoWorx campaign for this release, the system will automatically generate an MP3 file from the WAV file you upload in the field below, which can then be downloaded by your promo recipients.
WAV File
Upload the mastered WAV audio file (16-bit, 44.1 kHz) for this track by clicking the 'Upload New WAV File' link. Alternatively, you can upload WAV files to your FTP and then click the 'Select From FTP' link.
MP3 Sample
After uploading a WAV file, the system will automatically generate a preview of the track. This can be listened to within the LMS, as well as by your promo recipients (if you create a PromoWorx campaign).
