How do I add a new artist to the database?

The LabelWorx artist database contains over 250,000 artists that you can easily add to your tracks and releases. However, if you are creating a Display Artist which includes a brand new artist, or an existing artist who is not currently in our database, this guide explains how to add them while creating a new Display Artist during the release/track creation process, or via the 'New' button on the Artist Roster page.

Brand New Artist (First Ever Release)

If this is the artist's debut release (via any label or distributor) and they do not have existing profiles on any of the streaming or download platforms, follow the steps below:

  1. Search for the artist: Search for the artist's name to confirm that they don't already exist in the LabelWorx artist database (please note that if other artists share your artist's name, they may show in the results). If your artist is definitely not in the database, click the 'Create New Artist' button.

  2. Create the artist's profiles: You will now need to create the artist's profiles on Spotify, Apple Music, and Beatport. Select the 'Not released music on platform before' option and follow the steps to request new profiles, ensuring you adhere to the artist creation rules for each platform.

  3. Confirm the artist's details: After creating all of the artist's new profiles, you will be taken to the confirmation screen to add the artist's home country and legal name(s). You can also upload an image to represent this artist in the database (please note that this is not sent to the platforms).

If the artist has an ISNI or social media pages, you can also provide those details here. Once you have provided as much information as possible, click the 'Save New Artist' button. This will submit the artist to our artist database for approval, and add them to the Display Artist you are creating.

Existing Artist (Not in the LabelWorx Database)

If the artist has released music before and already has existing profiles on some/all of the streaming or download platforms, but is not currently listed in the LabelWorx artist database, follow the steps below:

  1. Search for the artist: Search for the artist's name to confirm that they don't already exist in the LabelWorx artist database (please note that if other artists share your artist's name, they may show in the results). If your artist is definitely not in the database, click the 'Create New Artist' button.

  2. Select the artist's profiles: You will now need to select the artist's profiles on Spotify, Apple Music, and Beatport. As there may be multiple artists with the same name, you can check which profile belongs to your artist by clicking the 'Profile' link to open that platform in a new window.

If you cannot find their profile for a particular platform, you can change the search term, or look them up via their store ID. If the artist does not have an existing profile on a platform, select the 'Not released music on platform before' option and follow the steps to request a new profile.

  3. Confirm the artist's details: After selecting all of the artist's profiles, you will be taken to the confirmation screen to add the artist's home country and legal name(s). You should then upload a custom image or 'use' an image from one of the platforms to represent this artist in the database.

If the artist has an ISNI or social media pages, you can also provide those details here. Once you have provided as much information as possible, click the 'Save New Artist' button. This will submit the artist to our artist database for approval, and add them to the Display Artist you are creating.
