The ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) is an identification system for sound and music video recordings. Each ISRC is a unique and permanent identifier for a specific recording and is used to identify that recording for royalty payments.
If you currently rely on LabelWorx to issue ISRC codes for your releases, we recommend registering with your local ISRC agency. Every record company should ideally have its own ISRC prefix, and registration is free and simple in most territories.
Once registered, you will be issued with an ISRC prefix. This can be added to your LabelWorx account so that we can automatically issue ISRC codes using your own prefix.
STEP 1: Obtain an ISRC prefix
Visit the International ISRC Agencies website and locate the agency for your territory, you will then need to complete their registration process directly with them to obtain your ISRC prefix.
STEP 2: Add Your ISRC Prefix to LabelWorx
Once you have received your prefix, you can add it to your LabelWorx account:
- Click Settings in the top menu.

Select the Distribution Settings tab.
- Enter your ISRC prefix into the ISRC Prefix field.
- Enter the Next ISRC Code number. If this is your first code, leave this set to 1.
- Click Apply in the icon menu.
Once you have completed these steps, LabelWorx will begin issuing ISRC codes using your prefix. You can download a record of the codes that have been issued at any time by clicking ISRC Export (xlsx).
