How can I pitch for editorial playlists, banners and store support for my track/release?

To be considered for playlist features, store banners, and other DSP support opportunities, you must complete a feature request form for each release you would like our pitching team to review.

To give your release the best chance of success, it's essential to provide our team with the key details they need to effectively pitch to editors, playlist curators, and tastemakers on your behalf.

Please be aware that there are a limited number of support opportunities available each week. While following the guidance below will maximise your chances of securing a feature, neither we nor anyone else can guarantee editorial support.

How do I pitch a release?

We work to strict deadlines set by the DSP's own curation teams, so your Official Release Date must be at least 3 weeks away in order for a release to be eligible for pitching.

After your release has been approved for distribution, If it meets this requirement, you'll see the 'Editorial Placements' prompt at the top of the Release Details page, with a button to Submit your request.

NOTE: If you don't see this prompt on the Release Details page, then your Official Release Date is less than 3 weeks away. DSPs require editorial submissions to be received well in advance, so we aren't able to submit releases that don't meet their lead-time requirements.

Please ensure that all submitted information is accurate and that you follow the instructions carefully, as incorrect information or broken URLs may result in your release not being pitched.

If you have multiple versions of a release being delivered to different DSPs (for example, a streaming release and a download release), you must submit a separate feature request for each version so that the correct platforms receive the appropriate information, track versions, and metadata.

What are the best practices when submitting a pitch?

Keep the following best practices in mind when submitting your Feature Request:

  • Provide concise, thoughtful marketing information. Avoid unnecessary detail, as curators review hundreds of submissions each week.
  • Ensure all listening links are public and accessible. Releases with broken or restricted URLs will not be pitched.
  • Include realistic performance forecasts based on social media engagement and previous streaming performance.
  • Provide relevant territory information, such as the artist's hometown, key markets where they are gaining traction, and any upcoming tours or live performances.
  • Meet the submission deadlines. Editorial meetings with DSPs are scheduled well in advance, and playlist space fills quickly. Late submissions cannot always be accommodated.
  • If your release is exclusive to a download store, use the Schedule Tool to align the streaming release date with the exclusive download release date. This helps maximise playlist opportunities when a DSP is also featuring your release on its store.
  • Be selective about which releases you submit. Prioritising your strongest campaigns is generally more effective than pitching every release.
  • When using our DSP Feature Request Form, you should also submit a pitch directly through Spotify for Artists. This process is separate from our own outreach to Spotify and should always be completed.
  • Read the submission form carefully and provide only the information requested.
