Why should I self-release?
Timing is everything.
Label release schedules are often planned out years in advance, so if you need to capitalise on a moment with a special track that doesn’t fit with a particular label, having your own platform to put out music when you need to is a great tool to maintain momentum.
Can I still work with other labels if I self-release?
Of course! Having your own output just gives you more control and the ability to “join the dots” with releases that complement your campaigns with other labels.
How does it work?
You can be as involved as you like. Some prefer to be hands-on and set every aspect of the release up themselves, others prefer to let us do the boring bits and just send us the music.
We can help you decide on a setup that works for you.
Do I need to set up my own label?
Short answer: no.
Long answer: no, but if you release without a label your music won’t be available on specialist download stores like Beatport and Traxsource, only streaming platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, TikTok and Deezer.
We can work with you on a solution that means your fans will hear your music.
Which territories do you cover?
We’ve got team members on almost every continent, each with a deep understanding of local nuances and how to make sure your music makes an impact across Europe, North and South America, Australia, South Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe.
Will I still be able to get playlist features and store banners?
Yes of course! You make the music and we’ll make sure it gets heard by the right people.
We have strong relationships with all the major DSPs and our pitching team work with the same contacts and editorial teams that the majors do.

Would I have to manage the release campaign?
No. If you use our Accelerate label management service, we can take responsibility for every aspect of the release - from setting it up on our system and delivering it to stores, to managing the royalties.
If you need more support, we can recommend trusted promo, marketing and press partners, and even project-manage the entire release to ensure maximum efficiency just as we did with Kerri Chandler’s ‘Spaces & Places’ LP.
Would I miss out on exposure, features and marketing budget that a major label release gets?
Not at all. Through the deals we have with major DSPs, we can help you apply for advertising credits and other amplification opportunities that are available to help support independent artists and labels reach their fans.
In addition, we can help secure remixes, run press campaigns, offer advances, and put opportunities on the table that will allow eligible labels to grow via our Launchpad Fund.
Do you handle YouTube?
Yes, we have a dedicated team who will manage your presence on YouTube, deal with copyright claims, and ensure that if your music is used in videos, you get paid for it.
LabelWorx is a ‘Tier A’ partner too, which means that our catalogue collects 20% more royalties than a standard upload, so you’ll automatically earn more with us.
What other platforms will my music be available on?
As well as major streaming services, our network of DSPs includes social media platforms including TikTok, Facebook and Instagram, and even platforms like Peloton, allowing you to reach a huge audience of music fans wherever they choose to listen to music.
Do you handle royalties?
We issue statements to labels and pay out any royalties owed by DSPs for streams and downloads on a monthly or quarterly basis.
When you are accounting to the artists signed to your label, our RoyaltyWorx service makes issuing statements and managing royalty payments based on the deals that you have signed a stress-free experience.
