How do I flag my tracks as Explicit?
To flag a track as explicit you do this on the track level and the option is available under the Mix details page. To access the Mix Details page go to
- Release Management ➜ Release List
- Select your release
- Click Update & Upload Files
You will then have the option to tick Explicit Lyrics.
IMPORTANT - Terms such as explicit, clean, dirty, censored, etc. should not be used in the mix names to define the lyrical content.
All tracks that need to be marked as explicit should be done so with the tick box as explained above. Even if the release contains both explicit versions and clean versions.
How can I set the Sample Start Time for my releases in the stores?
There are a few DSPs that will allow us to send specific start times for your samples. iTunes and TikTok are the main platforms that support this.
As standard, we will calculate the start time automatically to 33% through the track duration.
You can specify a sample start time for stores that support this function. This is done by ticking the Custom Sample Start box in the Mix Details Page. The time (in seconds) must be entered.
IMPORTANT - If you enter the ‘Sample Start’ in minutes, it will not work - it must be entered in seconds.
PLEASE NOTE - The majority of stores have an automated system for sample start times and this cannot be changed.
Why do I need to specify a Mix Name for each track?
The majority of dance-specific stores require a Mix Name to be submitted during our delivery of content to them.
We have therefore made this field required when you add your tracks to our system. Please enter "Original Mix" if there is no specific mix name.
We will then hide "Original Mix" from displaying on stores that do not display a Mix Name as seen on stores such as Apple Music and Spotify.
Can I export a Label Copy from the LabelWorx LMS?
If you are licensing tracks to third parties, you will often want to provide the licensee with a label copy to ensure they have all of the relevant information necessary to release the track, such as ISRC code, credits etc.
Label copies can be exported directly from the Label Worx LMS and provided to the licensee in multiple formats.
These can be generated by following these steps:
- Go to Release Management ➜ Release List on the top menu
- Click "Label Copy" on the top right-hand icon menu
- Select your release/track
The system will then generate your label copy and you have the option to, email label copy, generate a public label copy link or copy to clipboard.
What languages can I enter metadata in?
As we use UTF-8 Character sets, we can accommodate most natural languages.
The few exceptions which are not supported well (like Klingon) usually have a roman-alphabet equivalent and/or have an unofficial private Unicode code page.
If you're concerned about a particular language, please contact support and ask about that exact, particular one.
How do I add a PDF booklet to my iTunes release?
iTunes booklets are a way to provide a PDF version of the paper booklet you would receive if you bought the album as a CD.
To add a PDF booklet to appear on your release on iTunes, you need to prepare a PDF booklet to the exact specification shown below. Once you have this, go to the release details section and under the artwork tab, at the bottom where it displays 'Upload Booklet' click 'Browse' and select your booklet. Then click 'Apply'.
Digital booklets cannot be attached to a release that has already been delivered to iTunes, nor can an update be sent on booklets.
Please DO NOT set your release to Final until you have attached the booklet and are certain it meets iTunes extremely strict specifications. If they do not meet their specifications iTunes will reject them.
The PDF specifications are:
- PDF format with ".pdf" extension
- Four-page minimum
- All fonts embedded
- 72 dpi minimum
- 11 in x 8.264 in (28 cm x 21 cm)
- RGB colour
- Horizontal presentation
- All images full-bleed (no surrounding white space)
- Page number on all pages excluding page 1
Important: These booklets are expressly designed for the iTunes Store format, and cannot be reproductions of the liner notes with borders to increase their size.
Content Considerations:
When saving as PDF, make sure the document opens full screen with no negative space surrounding the document.
- File size should be reasonable (8 - 10 MB max). If the digital booklet is many pages, consider using fewer images or optimizing images to achieve a lower overall file size.
- The printer's marks are not allowed.
- You cannot sell or advertise other products or services. No other promotional sites are allowed.
- No links to anything outside of the booklet, except to the artist and/or label website(s).
- No time-sensitive information (for example, a promotion or dates for an upcoming tour or concert).
Note: Since a digital booklet is an 'Album Only' feature customers will only receive the booklet if they purchase the full release.
