Secure your YouTube account
Starting from 1 November 2021, monetising creators must turn on 2-Step Verification on the Google Account used for their YouTube channel to access YouTube Studio or YouTube Studio Content Manager.
What's happening?
For security purposes, Youtube is requiring creators to turn on 2-Step Verification by November 1 2021, in order to continue using Youtube Studio or Studio Content Manager. Securing your YouTube account helps prevent your account from being hacked, hijacked or compromised.
What do I need to do?
To secure your account, you can turn on 2-Step Verification by going to your Google Account settings:
- Open your Google Account.
- In the navigation panel, select Security.
- Under “Signing in to Google,” select 2-Step Verification Get started.
- Follow the on-screen steps.
2-Step Verification is required for all creators in the Youtube Partner Program and those with access to Studio Content Manager. Anyone with access to your channel will also be required to turn on 2-Step Verification by November 1, 2021. Make sure you are not sharing a password. Additionally, to safely manage your channel with multiple users, set up channel permissions.
