TikTok separates music usage into two libraries: the General Music Library (GML), intended for personal creators and general users, and the Commercial Music Library (CML), which is a catalog of pre-cleared tracks that businesses can use in organic posts and paid ads, ensuring brands have fully licensed music.
If a release is being distributed to TikTok, individual tracks can be opted into the CML by indicating that your label controls 100% of the publishing rights for that track on the relevant Track Details screen.
IMPORTANT: Cover songs or tracks with shared publishing rights cannot be included. Your label must fully own the track’s composition and have complete authority over publishing, including licensing and royalty collection. Incorrectly declaring ownership could have serious consequences, so only indicate you control 100% of the publishing rights if you're certain.
Once a track is opted into the CML, it becomes available for brands to use in commercial content and ad campaigns, unlocking new revenue opportunities and increasing exposure through branded / paid media.
