When creating a track, if your label fully owns the track’s composition and has complete authority over its publishing (including licensing and royalty collection), indicate this in the 'Publishers' section of the Track Details screen by ticking the 'We control 100% of the publishing rights for this track' checkbox.
IMPORTANT: You must not tick this checkbox if any publishing rights are shared with other parties, such as the artist or co-writers. It also cannot be ticked for cover songs, because the underlying composition is owned by someone else and your label does not control it.
Accurately declaring publishing rights is essential. Ticking this checkbox incorrectly and misrepresenting ownership is likely to have serious consequences for your label and your artists, including legal action, copyright infringement claims, royalty disputes, or potential removal of your tracks/label from DSPs.
If you are unsure about ownership or control, do not tick this checkbox. Only indicate full publishing control if you have verified that your label owns and administers 100% of the publishing rights.
Being diligent with this checkbox protects your label, respects co-owners’ rights, and ensures that royalties, licensing, and all associated legal and contractual obligations are handled correctly.
