How do I convert my TikTok account to an Artist Account and get the Music Tab?

TikTok has opened up its Music Tab feature to every artist on their platform. This feature automatically maps tracks delivered by distributors under the Music Tab of the relevant artist's profile.

Along with this comes innovative tools offered by TikTok to promote their music, tell users about new releases, and allow them to pin a video to the top of the Sound Details page for their tracks.

How can my artists apply?

To apply for an Artist Account, your artist will need to:

  1. Log in to their TikTok app and go to the profile tab.
  2. Tap the 3 lines or 3 dots in the upper right corner.
  3. Select 'TikTok Studio'.
  4. Select 'Artist Hub' or 'TikTok for Artists' in the 'More tools' section.
  5. Tap the 'Apply now' button.
  6. Enter their full artist name to search for their artist profile in the TikTok library.
  7. Find their artist profile and tap the 'Claim' button.
  8. For verification purposes, the artist will need to submit a screenshot of your LabelWorx account that clearly displays their artist name, album titles and/or track titles. If you are the label owner, you will need to provide this screenshots to your artist.
  9. Tap the 'Submit' button.

Their application will then be submitted and they will get feedback from TikTok within 30 days. The Music Tab and Artist Tag will be displayed on your profile once your request has been approved.

Please note that verification checks are carried out externally by TikTok, and LabelWorx is unable to assist with or dispute any decisions made by TikTok.

Are there any restrictions?

  • Labels cannot apply. Music Tab is only available to artists who have their own TikTok profile.
  • UGC (User Generated Content) tracks are not currently displayed within the Music Tab.
  • Tracks with a "Contains music by..." tag are not currently displayed within the Music Tab.
  • The artist tag will only be shown when they have more than 4 songs delivered to the platform and they have more than 100 videos using their songs.
