LabelWorx provides several ways to upload audio to your releases. You can upload files directly to individual tracks, upload multiple files to your FTP account and allocate them later, or use FTP alongside the Bulk Import process when creating a large number of releases.
Direct to Track
Uploading directly to a track is the simplest option when you only have a small number of audio files to add. Each file is uploaded individually from your device to the relevant track:
- In the top menu, go to: Release Management ➜ Release List
- Select the relevant release from the list.
- On the 'Release Details' screen, click the Upload & Upload Files link next to the relevant track.
- On the 'Mix Details' screen, scroll down to the 'Audio Files' section.
- Depending on the file you want to add, click Upload New MP3 File, Upload New WAV File or Upload New Sample.
- Use the 'File Picker' to select the file from your device, then click Upload.
- Once the upload is complete, LabelWorx will analyse the audio and display the file details.
- Click Save to save your track.
FTP Upload
FTP is useful when you have multiple audio files to upload. Instead of uploading each file individually while creating your tracks, you can upload all of your audio to your LabelWorx FTP account first, then select the relevant file when creating or editing each track.
STEP 1: Setting Up FTP Access
To upload files to your LabelWorx FTP account, you will need an FTP client. We recommend FileZilla, which is free and available for Windows, macOS and Linux.
Once you have installed an FTP client, you can find your FTP connection details in the LMS:
- Click Settings in the top menu.
- Select the 'FTP Access' tab.
Enter the connection details displayed on this screen into FileZilla (or another FTP client) to connect to your LabelWorx FTP account.
STEP 2: Uploading Files to Your FTP Account
Once connected to your LabelWorx FTP account, you can upload the audio files you want to use on your releases.
- Locate the audio files on your device using your FTP client.
- Upload the files directly to the root of your LabelWorx FTP account.
- Wait for the files to finish uploading before attempting to allocate them to your tracks.
Audio files must be uploaded directly to the root of your FTP account. Files stored within subfolders will not be available to select when allocating audio to your tracks.
STEP 3: Allocating FTP Files to Tracks
Once your audio files have been uploaded to your FTP account, you can allocate them to the relevant tracks:
- In the top menu of the LabelWorx system, go to: Release Management ➜ Release List
- Select the relevant release from the list.
- On the 'Release Details' screen, click the Upload & Upload Files link next to the relevant track.
- On the 'Mix Details' screen, scroll down to the 'Audio Files' section.
- Click Select From FTP for the type of audio file you want to allocate.
- Select the relevant file from your LabelWorx FTP account.
- Click Yes to confirm that you want to allocate the file to the track.
- LabelWorx will analyse the audio and display a confirmation once complete. Click OK to close the message.
The audio file will now be allocated to the track and its waveform will be displayed on the 'Mix Details' screen.
Bulk Uploading
If you are creating a large number of releases, you can combine FTP uploads with the Bulk Import process. This allows you to import your release metadata and automatically allocate audio files that you have already uploaded to your FTP account.
See this article for instructions on bulk importing releases.
