This FAQ article answers some of the most common questions about Daily Trends, including how data is displayed, why reports may differ between platforms, and what to expect when exploring your catalogue.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why don't I see data for today?
Daily Trends uses an aggregation process to prepare reporting data from multiple DSPs. This means new data may not appear immediately after it becomes available from a platform, and refresh times vary depending on when data is received and processed.
On charts, hovering over a data point shows whether data for that date is still being processed. If so, a 'Pending Data' section displays the DSP icons for the affected platforms.
Why do platforms show different metrics and insights in Daily Trends?
Not every DSP provides the same analytics. Daily Trends automatically adjusts each report to show only the charts, metrics and audience insights available for the selected platform. This means the information displayed may change as you drill down into different platforms, with unsupported data being hidden or substituted for their available metrics.
Why do DSP analytics platforms and Daily Trends show different figures?
You may occasionally notice slight differences between the figures shown in Daily Trends and those reported in a DSP's own analytics platform (such as Spotify for Artists or Deezer for Creators). These small variations are expected and typically result from differences in how each platform processes, aggregates, and defines its analytics.
Daily Trends displays the reporting data supplied by each DSP, while DSP analytics platforms may apply their own methodologies or combine data differently. For example, some platforms group data differently, apply additional filtering, or calculate certain metrics using different definitions, which can lead to small discrepancies.
Spotify is one example of this. Spotify for Artists may combine streams across multiple versions of the same recording or recordings distributed by multiple distributors, whereas the data provided to Daily Trends is limited to a single ISRC and only includes recordings distributed by LabelWorx. As a result, minor differences between platforms are normal and generally do not affect the overall picture of your catalogue's performance.
Why do some reports update before others?
You may sometimes notice that related reports or metrics within Daily Trends don't update at exactly the same time. This is expected and occurs because some reports are updated as soon as new data is processed, while others rely on aggregated data that refreshes on a scheduled basis. As a result, recently processed activity may appear in one report before it is reflected elsewhere.
For example, a new download may show in the 'Top Countries' breakdown before it is included in the 'Total Downloads' metric, temporarily making the country total appear higher. These differences are normal and will resolve automatically after the next aggregation cycle.
Why are playlists sometimes hidden?
Some playlists may appear in other DSP analytics platforms (such as Spotify for Artists) but not in Daily Trends for the same date range. This is because Daily Trends only shows playlists that generated streams during the selected reporting period, while other platforms often list every playlist that includes your track, regardless of whether it generated any streams.
If a playlist didn't drive any streams during the selected date range, it won't appear in the playlist report. Expanding the date range to include a period when the playlist generated streams will cause it to appear.
Playlist data is also only shown when it's relevant to the selected metric and supported by the selected platform. For example, playlist rankings are hidden when viewing 'Release Download' metrics because playlists only apply to streaming activity.
Why isn't there a percentage change shown?
Percentage changes compare the selected reporting period with the previous period of the same length. If there isn't enough historical data available, the change can't be calculated.
Why can't I see metrics from certain labels?
If your user account is restricted to a specific set of labels, all reports, rankings, and drill-down views will only include data for those labels. If you need access to additional labels within your label group, speak to your label group manager.
Can I use Daily Trends for royalty reporting?
No. Daily Trends contains preliminary daily data provided to us by select DSPs and should not be used for royalty reporting. This data may be corrected or amended by DSPs before it is finalised.
For royalty reporting, you should always refer to the 'Statements' page and use the finalised data provided in your royalty statements.
