Two-factor authentication (2FA) is highly beneficial in enhancing digital security. By requiring not only a password, but also a secondary form of verification (such as a code generated by an authentication app), 2FA significantly bolsters your account protection.
LabelWorx requires 2FA for all users. To enable 2FA, you will require a two-factor authentication app on your smartphone or tablet. There are many free apps available for iPhone and Android (such as Google Authenticator, Duo Mobile, Microsoft Authenticator, and Authy).
Setting Up 2FA For The First Time
If you haven't already, you will be prompted to set up 2FA when you log in to LabelWorx:
- Head to the App Store on your phone and download a two-factor authentication app (we would recommend 'Google Authenticator').
- Open your two-factor authentication app.
- Click the Add button or + symbol within the app.
- If prompted, allow camera access.
- Scan the QR code on the LabelWorx site to set up two-factor authentication (you will only see a QR code if you have not already set this up, otherwise, you will need to refer to the section below).
- Enter the 6-digit code (valid for 30 seconds) from your app into the LabelWorx site.
- Optionally, tick Remember this browser for 30 days to bypass this screen for the next 30 days.
- Click the Continue button on the LabelWorx site to log in.
NOTE: If you have multiple user accounts with LabelWorx, you will need to set this up for each separate user account.
Logging In With 2FA
After you have set up 2FA, the next time you log in, you will be asked to enter a 2FA code:
- Open the same two-factor authentication app you previously used.
- Enter the 6-digit code (valid for 30 seconds) from your app into the LabelWorx site.
- Optionally, tick Remember this browser for 30 days to bypass this screen for the next 30 days.
- Click the Continue button on the LabelWorx site to log in.
If you're having issues, please see Where can I find my two-factor authentication (2FA) code to login?
Recovery Codes
Upon set up, you will be presented with recovery codes. It's essential to store these codes in a secure place, separate from the devices used for regular access, as they provide a vital fallback option for account recovery in emergencies or when facing issues with regular 2FA methods.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) recovery codes are a set of one-time-use codes generated and provided when setting up 2FA for an account. These codes serve as a backup method to access an account if the primary 2FA method (smartphone app) is unavailable, lost, or not functioning.
You have the option to view and regenerate these codes under the User Profile screen.
Resetting 2FA
If you need to reset your 2FA (in the case of a device change or error with the app), first login with one of your recovery codes. Then go to your User Profile screen and click Disable Two-Factor Authentication, you will then be presented with a new QR code allowing you to set this up again.
Active User Sessions
You can also monitor active user sessions on the User Profile screen in the top right when you log in.
If multiple sessions are active, they will be displayed under the Active User Sessions section. Here you have the option to log all other devices out of your account using the Log Out Other Browsers button.
