How Do Facebook & Instagram Use My Content?

We have entered into a deal with Facebook to work with, develop and implement a rights management and royalty payment/reporting system.

We are currently delivering all content to Facebook's Audio Library. The Audio Library is the central hub and Facebook will be exploring many different ways to bring music to the Facebook community. So far these include;

• Share Videos with Music on Facebook
  Facebook is working to enable people around the world to include music in their videos on Facebook, opening up more options for creativity and sharing memories with friends and family. Facebook is testing this in several markets currently.
• Lip Sync Live
  Facebook is starting to roll out Lip Sync Live, which lets you lip-sync to songs. To try it out, choose the Lip Sync Live option when starting your Live video. After selecting a song from the song list, you can also add a description and customise your video with masks or a background. When broadcasting with Lip Sync Live, friends will see the artist and song highlighted on the video and can tap to follow the artist on Facebook.
• Instagram Music Stories
  Similar to adding emojis/GIFs, users will now have the option to add music by tapping on the sticker icon - searching/browsing for a song, selecting the best segment to match their story - and posting. When friends watch the story, they'll hear the clip the user chose playing over their photo or video. They'll also see a sticker with the song title and artist name.
• IMPORTANT
  Facebook is rolling out these features over a period of time - starting with iOS, with Android following. Additionally, they will be adding more songs on a regular basis and, as such, you may not see your titles included right now. Facebook has assured us that they are working hard to activate Audio Library feeds and match recordings with publishing data, prioritising top-performing content. There is no defined timeline, however, more content will be made available in the near future as this product is rolled out further.

Why Has Facebook Muted My Video?

There are numerous factors as to why your content may be muted, blocked or taken down by Facebook. We have outlined each reason below.

• Your content is a still image with overlayed audio
  Facebook is now muting video content that contains still images and audio. Facebook is not intended to be a platform to stream a track as you would on other streaming services, instead they focus on incorporating music content into social activities.
  A product restriction will be placed on your content by Facebook if they flag the video as having a still image. Unfortunately, it is not possible to remove a block from a video that has hit a product restriction.
• Your content contains samples that you do not have the rights for
  If your content contains music or samples from another label, your video may be blocked, muted or taken down. In most cases, this is when a track or sample from a major label is used. Whilst most other labels are claiming their content, it is rare that you will receive a block from anyone but a major label.
• Your video is blocked in non-monetised territories
  At the time of writing Facebook monetisation is active in 90 territories. Facebook use Audible Magic to automatically block videos availability that uses copyrighted content outside of the monetised territories. We have set our default policy with Audible Magic to allow new content to be used, however, some older tracks may still get blocked. If a video has been blocked for this reason, users can automatically put this video live again by clicking the 'Restore" button.
• Important Information
  Releasing a claim on a video would mean we would no longer collect usage data for that video and we would be unable to collect money for that particular video. You will receive claims on videos, however, this is part of the mechanics behind gathering usage data and generating revenue through the Facebook platform.

What Are Instagram Badges?

Instagram has launched a feature called Badges. Badges provide users with the opportunity to ‘tip’ a creator as part of a live stream, similar to the Stars product on Facebook.

In order to be eligible to participate in Badges, among other criteria, creators must have:

• at least 10k followers on Instagram
• must be in one of the 12 countries listed below.
  USA, UK, Germany, Brazil, France, Italy, Turkey, Spain, Mexico, India, Australia, Japan
